Coaching Supervision in a nutshell!

If you are familiar with coaching supervision…great!  You’ll already know how useful it is.  If you haven’t been involved with it much so far then here’s a quick overview about what it is and how it works.

What on Earth is coaching supervision?

Think of coaching supervision as coaching for coaches. It's like having a wise old owl perched on your shoulder (or maybe in my case, just an old owl), guiding you through the twists and turns of your coaching journey. It's a space where you, as a coach, can reflect, learn, and grow with the support of a seasoned mentor.  Ah there you go, seasoned sounds so much better than old.

Here's why it works:

  1. Reflective Playground: Coaching supervision is like a playground for reflection. You get to unpack your coaching sessions, explore what worked, what didn't, and why. It's like digging for treasure in the depths of your coaching experiences.

  2. Continuous Growth: As a coach, growth is the name of the game. With supervision, you're not just stagnating in your comfort zone; you're stretching, evolving, and becoming the best darn coach you can be.

  3. Support Network: Coaching can sometimes feel like a solitary pursuit, but with supervision, you're never alone. And sticking with the image above, it helps you to maintain your own balance.

What it isn’t?

It’s not about being checked up on or evaluated; it’s simply a chance, as a coach, to offload, learn and have some supported time to reflect and let go.  In my experience, all the best coaches are coached.

How does it work?

So let's talk logistics. How does this magical process actually work?

  1. Regular Sessions: Regularity works best, however, how often depends on how much coaching you do.  If you are coaching regularly I'd suggest having a supervision session once every two months.

  2. Online: These sessions will be via video call where possible on either WhatsApp, Skype or Teams.

  3. Case Studies: Bring your coaching cases to the table. Whether it's a challenging client, a tricky coaching dilemma, or a moment of triumph, I’m here to help you unpack it all.

  4. Feedback and Support: Expect a healthy dose of feedback, encouragement, and a good dollop of relaxed banter.

  5. Professional Development: Coaching supervision isn't just about troubleshooting; it's also about professional development. We can explore different coaching styles and tools and chat through any areas you may want to develop.

In a nutshell, coaching supervision is your secret weapon for staying sharp, staying sane, and staying on top of your coaching game.
